Gulf BPG Joins UAE Delegation to Japan

A delegation, including the Chairman of Gulf BPG, EIPA and members from various ministries, local departments and institutions in the United Arab Emirates, embarked on a visit to Japan.
This journey began by visiting Tokyo Customs to observe and learn about best practices in the field of intellectual property (IP) and combating counterfeit goods.
Several visits took place on the second day; a meeting was held with the Executive Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Mr. Malek Hannouf, Chairman of Brand Owners Protection Group, delivered a presentation on the group’s responsibilities and role in combatting counterfeit goods. He shared valuable experiences gained through collaborations with law enforcement agencies in the UAE.
Moreover, the delegation visited the Japanese National Police Agency, the Community Safety Office and the Illegal Products Department, where they learned about their roles in fighting counterfeit goods and engaged in fruitful exchanges of experiences.
On the third day, the delegation visited the Anti-Counterfeiting Goods Office and the International Cooperation Department in the Japanese Patent Office. A detailed presentation on the role and tasks of the Japanese Patent Office was provided, with a particular emphasis on community education to combat counterfeiting. The visit facilitated the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
Finally, a meeting was held with International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF) and several Japanese companies among which Toyota, Nissan and Honda were potential collaborations in the fight against counterfeit products was discussed.
This visit allowed Gulf BPG to join forces with the UAE delegation, enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the ongoing efforts to combat counterfeit goods and protect intellectual property rights.
