1st IP webinar for 2023 – IP Asset Valuation

On March 2nd, 2023, a highly informative webinar on IP Asset Valuation was held online via Teams. The event was organized by Gulf BPG – Brand Owners Protection Group, AIPPI-UAE – International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property in the UAE, Economic Service – French Embassy in UAE; French National Institute for Industrial Property (INPI) – France, EIPA – Emirates Intellectual Property Association, and the Ministry of Economy – Department of Trademarks and Copyright – UAE.

The webinar began with a welcome note from Mrs. Hoda Barakat – President of AIPPI, and Ms. Rasha Al-Ardah, Board Member of Gulf BPG, AIPPI-UAE, and Partner at Al Tamimi & Company, moderated the session.

The webinar covered various topics related to IP Asset Valuation, each presented by a prominent expert in the field. The first topic discussed was the Principles of IP Valuation in Europe, presented by Dr. Pierre Berbinau, Co-President of the International relations Committee of the CNCPI, European, and French Patent Attorney, CNCPI, France and Mr. William Hammond, Co-President of the Committee of the Fiscality and IP Financial valuation of the CNCPI, European, and French Patent Attorney, CNCPI, France.

The second topic covered IP Due Diligence in M&A Contexts, presented by Mr. Hussam Abu Hamdeh, Board Member of Gulf BPG and Regional Legal Advisor – Gulf & Arab Countries at Ferrero. This session highlighted the crucial role of IP due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and the various aspects to consider during the process.

The final topic discussed was IP Valuation: Methods and Trends, presented by Mr. Hady Khawand, Secretary of AIPPI-UAE, Board member of Gulf BPG, and Partner at Saba IP. This session explored the different methods used to value IP assets and the latest trends in the field.

The webinar ended with a Q&A session where attendees could ask questions and clarify any doubts they may have had about IP Asset Valuation.
