The event was collaboratively organized by the Ministry of Economy – Department of Trademarks and Copyright – UAE\, Gulf BPG – Brand Owners Protection Group\, AIPPI-UAE – International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property in the UAE\, Economic Service – French Embassy in UAE\, French National Institute for Industrial Property (INPI) – France\, EIPA – Emirates Intellectual Property Association\, and INTA – International Trademark Association. \nThe session began with Mrs. Jinane Kabbara – IP Counsellor at INPI\, Embassy of France\, giving the opening remarks and welcoming everyone and Mrs. Maria Farrukh Irfan Khan\, AIPPI-UAE Board member and Senior Partner at UTMPS\, who moderated the session. \nThe webinar covered a range of topics related to Press\, Media\, Journalism & IP\, each presented by well-known experts in their respective fields. \nThe first session was presented by Mrs. Marie-Avril Roux Steinkühler\, an IP/IT Lawyer from MARS – IP\, wherein she focused on Copyright and journalism\, exploring the rights of press publishers and copyright issues related to artificial intelligence. \nThe following topic touched on FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 TM- IP in Social Media\, with Mr. Aarij Wasti\, Director of Legal & Compliance at FIFA World Cup. He shed light on the FIFA World Cup Commercial Program and Brand Protection Program along with providing online enforcement statistics and case examples. \nThe final subject examined Copyright in the context of TV\, digital media\, and social media\, led by Mrs. Sara Maroun\, Senior Legal Counsel at MBC Group & Counsel at AL Arabiya News Network. This session highlighted piracy challenges posed by new media and AI\, MBC’s experience with FIFA as a major broadcaster in the region despite not being a licensee\, and the utilization of user-generated content and fair use for news organizations. \nThe webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session. The event was highly successful\, providing attendees with valuable insights and knowledge shared by esteemed experts in the field.
